It is easy to form unhealthy habits at the work place, especially if you work in an office that requires you to sit all day. The best trick for dealing with bad habits at work is to prevent them. When starting a new job, first figure out a daily routine to keep you healthy. Here are a couple things to keep in mind:
- Take a break.
Find moments during the day when you can stretch your legs. It’ll help clear your mind and allow you refocus for the rest of the day.
- Be conscious of what you eat.
Some offices always have food around, and it is easy to slip into unhealthy eating patterns (especially if you are sitting at a desk for 8 hours of the day).
- Figure out quick ways that help you de-stress.
Knowing at least one way you can take a break from the stress of work for under 15 minutes can be a huge life saver and day booster. This can be taking a couple of minutes to enjoy your coffee or taking a walk around the block. It doesn’t matter as long as it works for you.
- Stay hydrated.
This means drinking plenty of water throughout the day, not just soda, coffee and tea.
- Snack Healthy.
Having regular snacks while at work is a common deterrent for being bored, stationary and/or solitary. Just make sure that the snacks you bring are healthy and tasty like your favorite fruits and vegetables.
- Bring lunch from home.
A healthy brown-bag lunch can give you complete control over what you consume for your midday meal.
