Gettysburg College is seeking a full-time Intern to work in the Center for Global Education (CGE). This position works full-time (37.5 hrs p/wk) during the academic year and part-time (10-15 hrs p/wk) during the summer. This is a one-year, paid internship scheduled to continue through May, 2017. We are seeking candidates with an interest in global education and the opportunity to gain valuable experience in many aspects of campus-based global program operations, procedures, and management.
Salary Level: $13.25-$13.50 per hour. This position is eligible for pro-rated benefits and medical insurance.
The CGE Intern will be the primary contact for Gettysburg’s programs in Norway. The first two months of the internship will include a broad orientation about global programs operations, and Gettysburg College policies and practices. The intern will work closely with CGE staff and gain valuable experience in many aspects of office operations, procedures, and management. This includes day-to-day administration and advising (pre-, during, and post-experience), academic coursework/syllabi and curricular reviews, and building relationships with our program partners in Norway, our faculty, our students, and their families.
General responsibilities include:
- Advising outgoing global study students
- Assisting incoming Norwegian students prior to arrival at Gettysburg College
- Handling administration for Norwegian programs
- Running pre-departure orientation for students studying abroad in Norway
- Assessment of Gettysburg in Norway Program
Bachelor’s degree and participation in global study as an undergraduate student is required. Previous work in a global education or related office highly is desirable. Strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, writing, and communication skills are necessary, as well as an ability to interact with a wide variety of people. Demonstrated knowledge of standard computer applications and the Internet. Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite, web editing software, and Peoplesoft or other SIS is a plus. The position entails frequent contact with students, parents, Gettysburg College faculty and staff, program providers and on-site program staff in Norway.
